The client is engaged in a wide range of engineering and integration programmes, providing highly specialised skills and knowledge to projects such as C4I and future fighting vehicle programmes. The role will require close liaison and co-operation with system engineering and integration subject matter experts along with platform & domain expertise residing in wider businesses. The candidate must be a team player who is prepared to lead from the front and work with a multi-national engineering team and the customer community.
Requirements
Manages Human Factors Integration and Human Factors Engineering within engineering teams. Acts as the point of contact for Human Factors (HF) group. Directing Human Factors development team activities. Manages development, apportionment and dissemination of Human Factors requirements. Plans and runs HF design reviews. Plans and executes HF assessments (ergonomic analysis, GUI and Usability assessments). Promotes Human Factors Engineering throughout the company. Provides Human Factors expertise into developing programmes as an embedded member of the team. Manages the HF risk and opportunities. Supports HF schedule planning, monitoring and reporting. Supports and updates HF integration plans. Reviews HF elements of all subsystem documentation.
Further information
Essential: Degree qualified in a relevant discipline. An MSc in Ergonomics or Human Factors would be advantageous or equivalent in experience. Proven experience leading HF activities and influencing the design on engineering development programmes. Proven experience in working with sub-contractors through the integration, test and acceptance phases. Skills (Essential): Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent influencing and negotiation skills. Excellent customer relationship skills. Exemplary team player. Familiarity and experience with Human Factors techniques and tools (Task Analyses, workload tools, Human Error). Familiar with relevant Defence Standards, Military Standards and EC Directives. (Desirable): Significant experience in the defence industry in a domain relevant to Human Factors and AFVs. Proven experience of full systems engineering lifecycle. Proven requirements development expertise and experience using DOORS. Willing to travel extensively within the UK and possibly overseas. Appreciation of all Defence Lines of Development. |
