Statement of work for a Satellite Operations Engineer Consultancy
Location Darmstadt, Germany
Position Contract
Rate € 435 per day
This is initially a 12 month contract nut likely to be extended well beyond that. All travel expenses to interview will be paid fo by the client.
Tasks
The tasks of the Consultant in the area of MSG1/2 spacecraft routine operations will typically
include
· Familiarisation with the MSG satellite design and existing operations procedures as
necessary;
· Support the conduct of routine operations of the MSG-1 and MSG-2 spacecraft and
participate to the Satellite Operations Engineer on-call service;
· Carry out performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the in-flight
behaviour of the MSG-1 and MSG-2 spacecraft;
· Support the maintenance of the operations procedures (automated and manual), database and special operation instructions for the MSG-1 and MSG-2 spacecraft;
· Support the satellite simulator maintenance and provide the necessary input to the
simulator maintenance team;
· Support the satellite monitoring and control facility maintenance team to ensure that the facility, including the telemetry analysis tools, is always fit for its purpose;
· Support for the maintenance of the MSG Flight Operation Manual, including the On
line version of it;
· Participate to the activities related to the MSG Routine Operations Support provided
by the MSG satellites manufacturer; Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MSG Spacecraft and associated ground segment elements;
· Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary;
· Participation in the preparation and specification of system updates;
· Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews;
· Preparation and presentation of Control Centre Team training with respect to Spacecraft Operations.
The tasks of the Consultant in the area of MTP spacecraft routine operations will typically
include
· Familiarisation with the MTP satellite design and with the existing operations
procedures as necessary;
· Support the conduct of routine operations of the MTP spacecraft;
· Support the maintenance of the operations procedures (automated and manual), database and special operation instructions for the MTP spacecraft;
· Support for the activities related to the MTP Routine Support provided by the
MOP/MTP spacecraft manufacturer
· Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to
the operations of the MTP spacecraft and associated ground segment elements.
Profile
In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, the
Consultant shall have experience of spacecraft and/or ground segment operations.
Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with
some of the following
· Knowledge of the MSG and/or MTP satellites operations or knowledge of
geostationary satellite operations in general;
· Routine spacecraft operations in general;
· Operations preparation of a satellite project.
The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner,
shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the
minimum of supervision.
