Statement of work for a Systems Operations Engineer
Location Darmstadt, Germany
Position Contract
Rate € 435 per day
This initially a 12 month contract but likely to be extended well beyond that. All travel expenses to the interview will be paid by the client.
Tasks
The Consultant shall provide engineering support to system operations.
In particular the tasks of the Consultant will include
· System engineering and coordination of the operations of the geostationary spacecraft and ground segments and ensure compliance with the operational service specifications and operational interface agreements;
· Support to MTP/MSG/Multi-Mission System Operations including operational validation of releases, database maintenance, user administration, investigation of system anomalies and the raising, tracking and regression testing of Non Conformance Reports;
· Participate in the yearly update of the Operations Department Mid-term Evolution Plan in particular for MTP Core Facility, MSG Central Facility and Multi-mission components of the operational systems, proposing evolutions to the geostationary operational systems to improve overall operational service availability;
· Coordination of the definition of user requirements for system evolutions, participation in the implementation and organisation of the validation of associated changes;
· Analysis of major system changes due to control centre equipment relocations (new building, changes to room allocations), ensuring continuity of services during re- engineering activities;
· Participate in Operations Department development projects related to major system changes;
· Participate in the definition and implementation of tools for service chain monitoring, reporting and visualisation;
· Coordinate the geostationary spacecraft and ground segments operations planning within the overall Operations Department medium and long term planning;
· Perform MSG, MTP and EPS Mission Planning operations, including where necessary the maintenance of Mission Planning databases, rules and operational processes, and the preparation and validation of executable schedules;
· Coordinate the production of Geostationary Spacecraft ground segment related system procedures and training of the operations teams;
· Participation in any changes due to the implementation of Business Continuity processes;
· Support the development and validation of a System Contingency Operations Guide;
· Participate in the preparations for future MSG spacecraft launch and commissioning, including the definition, organisation and implementation of the Operations preparation phases;
· Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews.
Profile
In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, the Consultant shall have a minimum of 5 years experience in the field of System Engineering in high-availability operational systems.
For the accomplishment of the listed tasks, knowledge and experience of the following is mandatory
· Real-time spacecraft and ground segment operations;
· The operational validation of real-time systems and associated operational procedures;
· The definition of user requirements.
Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with some of the following
· Mission Planning operations;
· Development of system analysis, reporting and monitoring tools;
· Change Management.
