Statement of work for a Ground Station Maintenance Engineer
Location Darmstadt, Germany
Position Contract
Rate € 435 per day
This is initially a 12 month contract extendable and likely to last much longer. All travel expenses to interview paid by client.
Tasks
The Consultant shall work in the Maintenance and Engineering Division of the Operations Department as a member of the Ground Stations team, sharing the duty according to the work load, so he will be expected to acquire and maintain a System-wide view of the various Ground Segments, particularly in the area of Ground Station.
The tasks of the Consultant will typically include
· assisting with the preparation or evaluation of proposals, as required, for modifications/improvements to the Ground Stations and associated equipment;
· planning and scheduling of the implementation, testing and validation of these modifications/improvements;
· provision of training to operation teams about ground stations upgrade;
· provision of status reports about the performance of the ground stations and associated systems;
· investigation and rectification of anomalies reported by the operations/maintenance team;
· planning and scheduling of the regular ground Station maintenance activities within ongoing operational constraint;
· attend daily, weekly operations coordination meetings;
· maintenance of automated and paper operational Ground Stations procedures, in accordance with the configuration management and quality assurance practices.
· maintenance of Ground stations databases;
· provision of support to the setting up of maintenance agreements/contracts from a technical point of view;
· interface at technical level with the maintenance services providers;
· provision of ground station support to operations during critical mission phases, pre and post launch (i.e. SVT, LEOP, IOT and contingency);
Profile
In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, the
Consultant shall have experience in the Operations and Maintenance of Large Ground
Stations and/or Ground Stations Engineering/Integration to be used either for GEO or LEO mission.
The Consultant shall have experience in the following area
· Ground Station design/integration/testing (in particular regarding the Antenna, RF, and Base Band subsystems);
· Usage of Tracking systems including Antenna Control Unit (ACU)/Tracking receivers for large antennas to acquire either LEO or GEO satellite;
· Operation and configuration of integrated TT&C baseband equipment and ranging systems (i.e. IN-SNEC Cortex type);
· Usage of High Data Rate Demodulators;
· Maintenance and operations of large ground stations including site infrastructure;
· Local and remote Monitoring & Control of large ground station, usage of related
· databases and creation and maintenance of automated procedures;
· RF measurement practices and usage of instrumentation;
· Knowledge of modulation/demodulation schemes applied by Ground to Space ICD for
· TT&C and payload data transmission.
Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with
some of the following
· Commercial satellite and micro wave data links;
· Basic knowledge of WAN, LAN and TCP/IP protocol;
· Implementation of relevant ECSS standards and CCSDS recommendations;
· In Orbit Test (IOT) Systems
